The Sevenoaks built-up area was home to 26,479 people at the 2021 Census, up from 25,654 in 2011.

Sevenoaks (postcode districts TN13, TN14 and TN15) sits where two main routes from the north meet before climbing the Greensand Ridge, 21 miles south-east of Charing Cross. The ONS built-up area drawn after the 2021 Census takes in Chipstead, Dunton Green and Riverhead, but not Seal or Godden Green.

Detached houses are the most common home type in Sevenoaks — 4,085 of the built-up area's roughly 10,300 households (about 40%) live in one, with a further 22% in semi-detached homes and 17% in terraces (Census 2021).

Around seven in ten households in the Sevenoaks built-up area own their home — 35% outright and 35% with a mortgage, loan or shared ownership — while 19% rent privately or live rent-free and 10% rent social housing (Census 2021).

At the 2021 Census, 81% of households in the Sevenoaks built-up area heated with mains gas alone, while just 37 of roughly 10,300 households (about 0.4%) relied on renewable heating only.

Knole Park covers 1,000 acres of trees, woodland, valleys and parkland in Sevenoaks. Archbishop Thomas Bourchier acquired Knole in 1456, and the deer have remained there ever since.

The Vine — one of the oldest cricket venues in England, first recorded in 1734 — was given to the town in 1773 by the 3rd Duke of Dorset. Six of the seven oaks planted along its northern edge in 1902 were blown down in the Great Storm of 1987.
