Privacy & cookie policy
How we use the details you give us, and the cookies this website does and doesn’t use.
Who we are
This website is run by ATHENA SOLAR AND ELECTRICAL SOLUTIONS LIMITED, trading as Athena Solar & Electrical Solutions (company number 16413705). Our registered address is Woldsee, Moorland Road, Shepherdswell, Dover, England, CT15 7NS. We are responsible for the personal information described on this page.
If you have a question about your information, email adammckeen83@outlook.com or call 01304 700765.
What we collect
- When you get in touch through a form on this website, by phone or by email: your name, postcode, phone number or email address, what you’re interested in and anything else you choose to tell us.
- If you go ahead with a survey or an installation: your address, details of your property and your energy use, survey notes and photos, and the records of the work we do for you.
How we use it, and why
- To reply to your enquiry and arrange a consultation or survey. We do this because you asked us to, before any contract, and because we have a legitimate interest in answering enquiries.
- To quote for, install and look after your system, including warranties and aftercare. We do this to carry out our contract with you.
- To meet our legal and certification obligations, such as registering your installation, notifying your electricity network operator where that’s needed, and keeping tax and accounting records.
We don’t sell your information, and we don’t send you marketing unless you’ve asked us to.
Who we share it with
Only where it’s needed:
- the services that run our website and our email, including the form service that delivers website enquiries to us, and the company that hosts this website, which handles basic technical information such as your IP address so it can deliver pages securely;
- Google, for website analytics, but only if you allow it (see Analytics cookies);
- the certification and consumer-protection schemes we belong to (MCS, NAPIT and RECC), where their rules require it;
- your electricity network operator, for grid connection notifications;
- equipment manufacturers, if we register a product warranty for you;
- anyone we are required to share it with by law.
How long we keep it
If your enquiry doesn’t go any further, we keep your details only for as long as we need them to deal with it. If we carry out work for you, we keep the records for as long as your system’s warranties and certification need them, and for as long as the law requires for tax and accounting records.
Your rights
You can ask us for a copy of the information we hold about you, and ask us to correct it, delete it, limit how we use it, or stop using it. You can also ask for it in a format you can take elsewhere. Email adammckeen83@outlook.com and we’ll respond within one month, as the law requires.
If you’re unhappy with how we’ve handled your information, you can complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office at ico.org.uk or on 0303 123 1113.
Cookies
This website doesn’t use advertising cookies, and it sets analytics cookies only if you allow them (see below). Our fonts are stored on this website rather than loaded from another company.
We use BugHerd, a website feedback tool, so we can collect and fix feedback on the site. Its script loads from bugherd.com when you visit, and BugHerd may use its own cookies or browser storage to work. Anything sent through it is handled under BugHerd’s own privacy policy.
Analytics cookies
We use Google Analytics to count visits and see which pages are useful, so we can improve this website. It runs only if you choose Allow on the cookie notice. Until then, or if you choose No thanks, nothing is loaded and no analytics cookie is set.
If you allow it, Google Analytics records the pages you view, how you arrived (for example from a search engine), your type of device and browser, your approximate location (town or city) and whether you sent an enquiry. It does not record your name or contact details, and Google Analytics does not store IP addresses. Google signals and advertising features are switched off, and Google keeps the data for up to 14 months.
The cookies it sets:
- _ga tells one visitor apart from another. It expires after two years.
- _ga_9HWT1NZWWS keeps track of the current visit. It expires after two years.
You can change your choice at any time with the Cookie settings link at the foot of every page. Choosing No thanks deletes these cookies. Your choice is kept in your browser’s local storage, not in a cookie, so we don’t ask on every page; we ask again after six months.
Google explains how it uses information from websites that use its services on its own site.
