How much does a solar and battery system cost?

Athena’s published packages start at £7,500 for a Fox ESS 10-panel system (3.6 kW inverter + 5 kWh battery), and the largest package is £11,000 for a Sigenergy 16-panel system (6 kW inverter + 12 kWh battery). We also design larger systems to order. All prices are subject to survey.

Our package prices are published up front with no hidden charges, and every project starts with a free consultation so the system we quote for is the one your property actually needs.

The kit & the install

What the hardware can do

Can battery storage be added to my existing solar panels?

Yes. Our battery systems can be fitted alongside an existing solar array or planned as part of a brand new solar installation.

We look at how much electricity you use, when you use it and how much spare generation your panels produce before recommending a suitable capacity — so you are not paying for capacity you do not need or ending up short when demand rises.

Battery storage →
Will a battery keep the lights on during a power cut?

Only if a backup gateway or EPS (emergency power supply) is installed alongside it. That is an optional extra, and it can mean upgrading your consumer unit, but we are happy to fit one if you want backup during power cuts. Every battery system still gives you off-peak charging capability and monitoring apps for performance tracking.

In Dover, plenty of customers choose this route because lower bills, backup support during power cuts and more independence from the grid simply make sense.

Can I charge my electric car from my solar panels?

Yes, though usually at a reduced charging rate, because the charger runs on the surplus your panels are producing at the time — most EVs can charge this way. We integrate chargers with your current solar panels, or can advise on adding solar, so you can charge your vehicle using renewable energy, cutting your bills and carbon footprint.

We also handle the latest charger models, including options ready for vehicle-to-everything (V2X) technology, letting your vehicle battery store and return energy to your home or the grid.

What does a solar panel maintenance survey include?

We tailor our maintenance packages to fit your system size and energy needs. Each plan can feature annual health checks, performance monitoring and detailed reports, as well as professional panel cleaning to boost your output.

Many warranties require documented maintenance, so our service helps you stay protected and covered.

Do air source heat pumps work alongside solar panels?

Yes — our systems are compatible with solar panels to give you even greater efficiency and extra savings.

We manage the full supply, fitting, and commissioning of your heat pump, and every installation is backed by manufacturer warranties and our workmanship guarantee.

Do you carry out EICRs and general electrical work?

Yes. We specialise in EICRs (Electrical Installation Condition Reports), vital for landlords and business owners who want to stay on the right side of the law. Our electricians check circuits, sockets, and appliances for any signs of wear or risk, then provide a written report and recommendations.

We also offer routine maintenance and upgrades, from consumer unit replacement to energy-saving LED lighting.
