Is there a grant for a home EV charger?
If you rent your home, or own and live in a flat, with your own off-street parking: the government’s EV chargepoint grant pays 75% of the cost of buying and installing a socket, up to £500. Owner-occupiers of houses cannot claim it.

Does UK Power Networks need to know about my charger?
Yes. Every home chargepoint is notified to the local network operator, UK Power Networks across Kent, through the Energy Networks Association process. The installer does this.

Does a new home charger have to be a smart charger?
Yes. Since 30 June 2022 a chargepoint sold for home use in Great Britain must meet the smart charge point regulations, so it can connect and schedule charging into cheaper off-peak hours.
